Looking for a digger ?

If you think someone in your family may have fought in or around Le Quesnoy you might find the following sites useful :

The graves of those New Zealand soldiers who lost their lives in the area are located in the following commonwealth and civil cemeteries in the area:

Le Quesnoy: 45 NZ soldiers (map)

Romeries : 112 NZ soldiers. The largest Commonwealth cemetery in the area (map)

Vertigneul : 19 NZ soldiers, including Henry James Nicholas, VC (map)

Beaudignies : 12 NZ soldiers (map)

Fontaine-au-Bois : 89 soldiers (map)

Ruesnes  : 9 soldiers (map)

If you have a relative buried in one of these cemeteries and are unable to visit, we can arrange for a photo of the tombstone to be taken and sent to you. If you are interested, please send your details (soldier’s name, cemetery, your relationship to the soldier, your contact details) to us at contact.
